This may be an issue; growth, productivity and establishing a business

Some time ago, had a meeting the purpose of which was to allow the effective deployment of my plans. I had equipped for the meeting as requested by public sector. I consider exposing my intentions without exact knowledge of related data security measures a considerable risk. In the before mentioned meeting, we did not go through the documents I had prepared. The guidance I received from public sector had again changed. These kind of happenings can have a significant influence on motivation and motivation is an essential factor for success. Rules of any mandatory processes should be unequivocal, presented in literal format, and related information easily accessible. If most planning and preparations activities are not considered, it usually takes few days to establish an enterprise in Finland. There is available public funding, getting which often requires usage of public services and conformation to strictly controlled processes. I claim that the availability of that state funding in some cases potentially hold back economic growth; once the funding is available, it may be unwise or even impossible to start business without applying that funding. Once it is almost inevitable to apply funding to even get a chance to compete for survival, there will be a big amount of applications and the need for consultation on how to successfully apply the funding will grow. The application process takes time and includes a risk of directing the operational focus from business to the application processes. Getting the finance often includes an obligation to participate in programs that are designed to ensure the success of projects or companies that get the funding. Many business activities are productized for those state subsidized processes. These activities seem to contribute e.g. to the creation of business models. It surely would be interesting to know how many successful innovative business models are created in the before mentioned guided processes. I have been arguing that the amount of planning before starting the business should be proportional to business opportunities and risks. The time to market is often a great factor of success. It would be intriguing to get any evidence of the benefits that the involvement of public sector in private business have created. It surely is very challenging for public sector to have the time and skills to assess all the opportunities that individual start-ups operating in different business sectors would create; the entrepreneur prepares the material for assessment of their business for public sector representatives. It is the entrepreneur, who also takes the most risk related to his or her business and life. While economic activity created by new businesses is urgently needed to contribute to the economic growth, it is not seldom that I hear a public sector representative wondering why I wish to establish an enterprise, although the possibility to work as an employee also exists. From certain points of view they probably are right; some public benefits that are available for employees are not available for entrepreneurs and there are risks involved in entrepreneurial activity. It is just that the amount of open positions usually correlates with the level economic activity and that a great deal of opportunities may be lost in slow bureaucratic processes. 1. huhtikuuta 2015, 0:21 Johanna Sandman
