There seems to be plenty of talk concerning the employment rate of highly educated people in Finland. The society seems to do its best to further educate these educated people and the excuse is sometimes that they wouldn't otherwise manage in the working life. It is not difficult to assess the situation from trainer's point of view; it is nearly impossible to create a learning solution that adds to value for diverse group of highly educated people. In the meanwhile the trainings remain inaccessible to those who would likely benefit from knowledge updates. Another issue worth mentioning is that the actual amount of vacancies does not really increase only by educating the unemployed. Neither do we achieve durable economic growth by creating positions that are unnecessary; it is private sector's duty to aspire towards efficiency and healthy business environment. At the moment, the private sector, the source of growth and welfare, is going through structural change and need for new successful business ideas and enterprises is imminent. At the same time, the existing system does not truly encourage entrepreneurship. Many parts of the current rule and practices might actually do the opposite. Do we really want to lose the investment we made in intellectual assets, or would it be time to take all thinkable steps to release the innovative capability?
