Efficiency and Nexus to Productivity Who should we thank for lack of progress and poor health, if it seems to be common to instruct people to obtrusive irrational activities, or if endeavors to take care of one’s physical health are disrupted due to e.g. whiffs that cause several hours of pain? One issue seems to be quite widely accepted; we want to retain the welfare we have achieved and we wish for better future. The discussion often turns to the role of public services and whether it is possible to retain the welfare with ever decreasing share of people at work. I think, it should be self-evident that a small nation with educated people and aging population is more likely to reach the best result by smartness and ability create the maximum value added per inhabitant, than by maximizing amount of hours worked. So, the best way forward would be to rely on advance, automation, new technologies, education, and science. For years business sector has focused on value adding activities and on getting rid of unnecessary tasks. So, where comes the idea that an educated nation should be led to perform activities that produce little or no value? If there are free resources available, why doesn't the advance then take place? I think there are few things that one should at least consider: - Should we concentrate on measures that enable the flexibility in markets instead of those that stiffen the labor market? - Should we accept that the traditional employment relationship will not survive and stop preferring employment relationships over entrepreneurship? I refer also to existing legislation and related processes. - Should we concentrate on earning instead of working? - Should we rely on individuals and their motivation to succeed instead of the culture punishment and vituperation? Should we rely on the mounting knowledge of all individuals instead of rules and thoughts of few? Should we try to use the intellectual property we invested in instead of hindering the utilization of intellectual assets? Should we rely on flat structures and self-initiation instead of authority? lähetetty: 19. elokuuta 2016, 11:07 Johanna Sandman
